Guide to Doing Business in New Jersey
This 82-page guide produced by the New Jersey Business Action Center, the State's one-stop-shop for businesses, offers a wealth of resources, contact information, and how to's.
Urban Enterprise Zones
New Jersey's Urban Enterprise Zones (UEZ) were created to stimulate new economic activity and reduce unemployment within the boundaries of each zone. The establishment of these zones helps provide incentives for businesses to come to these communities and occupy existing facilities or build new ones. Companies in the zones:
- Pay no state sales tax on building materials, services, and most tangible personal property.
- Can charge customers only half the usual state sales tax rate of 7 percent.
- Receive tax credits for hiring previously unemployed workers.
- Receive unemployment tax rebates.
